History

This is a historical place and the capital of Uttar Pradesh. People call the this city ‘City of Nawabs’. Here you can find beautiful gardens, music, cultures or poetry. In ancient times Lord Lakshmana the brother of Lord Rama was the king of Kaushal state. Lucknow was part of that state.

Earlier People called this place ‘Lakshmanpur’ or ‘Lakhanpur’ because lord Lakshmana was the king of this place. Just 80 miles from here ‘Ayodhya’ is located. Around the city, there’s the Gomti river. In the city, there are beautiful gardens that are why people call it the ‘City of gardens’. When Nawabs took charge of this city in the 17th century, they renamed it Lucknow. ‘Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula’ founded present Lucknow in 1775. At that time people called it the ‘golden city of the east.

Tourist Spots :

(1) British Residency

Earlier the British resident general lived here. During the Indian rebellion of 1857 over, 3000 British residents lived here. Here entry is free.

(2)Rumi Darwaza

It’s a big gateway. It’s located between Bara imambara & Chota Imambara. This gateway was built by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula in 1789. Entry is free here.

(3)Chattar Manzil

Its other name is ‘Umbrella Palace’. Earlier Awdhi rulers and their wives lived here. Tourists love visiting this place.  Here all buildings have umbrella shapes. Entry is free here.

(4)Dilkhusha Kothi

This place is located near the Gomti river. It was built in the 19th century. Earlier nawabs used it as a summer resort. There’s a beautiful garden. The entry is free of cost.

(5)Husainabad Clock Tower

This place is located nearby Rumi Darwaza. The Husainabad clock tower is a famous monument of Lucknow. In the clock, you can find 12 petals and the height of the pendulum is 14 feet long. It’s 221 feet tall. It was built in 1881 by Hussainabad trust. The entry is free.

Famous Food 

(1)Kebab – Without its kebab, Lucknow is not Lucknow. Kebab is the heart of Lucknow. You can find and eat it anywhere in Lucknow. You will eat different tastes and yummy flavors of kebab.

(2)Biryani – After kebab, Biryani is the tastiest street food here. Whenever tourists come here they must eat it. There are so many varieties in biryani.

(4)Basket Chaat – In Lucknow all people eat this with the evening tea. This chaat looks and tastes yummy. This chaat is made in a basket with lots of mashed potatoes, onions, and spices.

(5)Veg Kabab Paratha – It tastes super delicious. With butter, it looks creamy and mouth-watering. You can eat it for breakfast or in the evening with tea.

(6)Malai Makkhan – It’s tasty, creamy, and sweet. If you are a lover of sweets then you must try it.

(8)Chicken Shawarma – One of the best Shawarma in Lucknow. The softness of the chicken and the tasty smell will make you fall in love. You will get mayonnaise sauce with it.
